Our Blinn ADN Program has lost another grad--I just found out today. Susan & I taught CPR together several yrs in the '90s. She was quite a spunky gal, very high energy, with a quick wit, & enjoyed nursing more than teaching school.

SUSAN CAY RINN
YOAKUM - Susan Cay Rinn passed away one day shy of her 66th birthday.
She died several weeks after being hospitalized, fighting complications of a lung infection and other serious health issues arising during her stay.
Born on March 12, 1947 in Yoakum to the late Ralph and Bowe Davis Rinn, she and her sister became the love of their lives.
Graduating from Yoakum High School in 1965, Susan attended Trinity University in San Antonio and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She taught school for a few years, but always having a love for the medical profession, Susan obtained an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing degree from Blinn College in 1991, becoming a licensed Registered Nurse. In 1976 she received her Master of Science degree from Texas A & M University in Educational Psychology and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi sorority. She became certified as an Emergency Medical Technician and worked at several levels and positions in that field. After an opportunity arose for Susan to transfer her love for the excitement of emergency work to the hospital emergency room, she spent 17 years happly employed at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan as an E.R. nurse. Her last employment was in the student health center at Texas A & M.
Having a big heart in an ultra-petite frame, Susan possessed a kind nature and a deep, caring attitude for others. She might be best known as a devoted caregiver for three family members over a period of 20 years. Susan had a soft spot in her heart for animals, loving pets like family. Loyalty was another trait present in all relationships. Classmates remember Susan as being a "spark" with a great sense of humor and always enjoyed her company. Along with intelligence, she had a talent for music and worked diligently to become an accomplished pianist. Ever an adventurous spirit, Susan also was an avid skier.
Raised in the Methodist church, she maintained a strong belief in this religion and a steadfast faith in God throughout life.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nora May Rinn.
She is survived by first cousins, the John Loeffler family of Junction, the Paul Loeffler family of Alpine and the Lisa Bynum family of Eustace.
Visitation at the funeral home will be on Friday, March 15, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon with graveside services at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Yoakum. Afterwards, refreshments provided by the First United Methodist Church will be served at the Rinn home in Yoakum at 1001 E. Gonzales Street.
