Join us in congratulating PhD candidate Mary Milnamow, who has received a Health and Aging Policy Fellowship for 2026-27. 👏

Mary’s work focuses on supporting employed family caregivers who are tending to older adults, people living with dementia and people with an intellectual or developmental disability. She hopes to turn her research and life experience — including the time she spent caring for her late brother — into effective caregiving policies to improve the lives of others. 💙

Congrats, Mary! Read more about her work and award at the ink in our bio.

Implementation science in action. 🔥 researchers are teaming up with Horizon Health Services to test an innovative program that can help clinicians support individuals in recovery from addiction and substance use disorders.

The project is funded by a $200,000 grant from NYS OASAS. The researchers will train Horizon clinicians to use a tool, created by Associate Professor Elizabeth Bowen, that integrates recovery capital into care planning. Recovery capital helps clinicians take a holistic approach to recovery, by tapping into the social, physical, personal and cultural resources individuals have that may affect their recovery.

Bowen and Associate Professor Jangmin Kim are leading the project; Samantha Koury, from our Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care, is a co-investigator.
