It is with great sadness to share that the EOP family has lost one of our own, William Ortega, after a long battle from kidney disease. Will joined the Buffalo State community in 1997, and resigned in 2022. Will was a strong student advocate, readily available to guide, mentor, coach and challenge. Students understood that his direct and straightforward approach was fueled by compassion, love, and a strong desire to see them succeed. Will was a creative at heart, often sharing his artistic talents. He had a great sense of humor uplifting those around him. He received the President’s Award for Excellence in Academic Advisement in 2016, however his greatest passion was his loving family; Tamiko, Gabe, and Alex. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who loved Will.
