Our nomination to again expand the Michigan Sycamore Historic District is set to have a public hearing before the Buffalo Preservation Board on Thursday June 25, 2020.

In our continued effort to protect more of the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor, the expansion of the Michigan Sycamore Historic District is a strong statement that we as a community see these buildings as an important part of our historic built environment and contribute to the rich historical and cultural significance of this incredibly historic corridor. Please visit our online advocacy portal where you can learn more and voice your support of the nomination here: https://bit.ly/ProtectMichiganStreet

Dana Saylor writing here: I invite all BYP members and friends to join my new group - DIY With Dana Saylor: Community Changemaking so that you can watch my weekly live show (this week with Harrisburg powerhouse Shamaine Daniels - future discussions about the power of place with Dar Williams, Nina Simon, and others!)- and join the burgeoning community I'm building there - at the intersection of the arts, heritage and emotional connection. I look forward to welcoming you!

Preservationists assemble!!! We need a Valentine’s Day miracle! ❤️

This little brick cottage at 580 Niagara Street is slated for demolition by 2/15 or soon there after.
This is a little cutie pie cottage that could absolutely be saved and renovated. The front house is burned out...but the rear cottage is a must save. It can absolutely be renovated if the city stopped this demolition and gave it over to someone qualified.

Will you make this cottage your valentine and call / email city hall to know it should be spared from demolition?! Urge city hall to seek a new owner that can bring this cutie back to life!

Email James Comerford at [email protected].
This is in Ellicott District so call / email Darius Pridgen at [email protected] at
(716) 851 – 4980
Call demolitions at 716-851-4949 or 716-851-4908

Thank you so much for your ❤️!

ACTION NEEDED!! BYPeeps, we need you! Please call and/or send Council President Pridgen regarding the emergency demolition of this building on Ellicott Street. This morning the building that most recently hosted Two Wheels Bakery suffered a roof and partial façade collapse, as seen in the photos below. We need everyone possible to make enough noise to stop the emergency demolition order that's in place. Yes, it's listed and it's an important part of this block, our history, and economic development in this city. This isn't the Council President's call but we believe he can be a strong influence in the future of this property. Let's reverse this decision!

Please support the reuse of these buildings! They are collectively some of the oldest buildings left in our downtown and they're critical to telling Buffalo's story!
