We are partnering with the City of Buffalo to work on Buffalo Street Trees, a new educational initiative that helps residents learn about the benefits of trees and request free street trees for their neighborhoods — especially in areas that need them most.
This community-focused program will meet residents where they are — at block club meetings, neighborhood gatherings, and community events — to share resources, answer questions, and expand Buffalo’s tree canopy.

Helping people prepare for, find, and keep good jobs is what Goodwill is all about. That’s why we created a new workforce readiness program called Goodskills Career Builder.

The University at Buffalo's Regional Institute (UBRI), within the School of Architecture and Planning, is supporting Goodwill Industries of WNY’s long-term workforce strategy that meets the needs of underserved residents, especially those who are out of work or underemployed.

Through research, UBRI is sharing insights on workforce needs and gaps to support the development and fine-tuning of the Goodskills Career Builder program. UBRI analyzed job posting data to identify skills, qualifications, and credentials that hiring employers seek. UBRI is also examining industry and occupational trends as it considers jobs of the future and career pathways, along with microdata to quantify and characterize Goodwill’s target populations.

UBRI is serving as a guide to Goodwill, through strategic planning and partnership building, in forging connections that strengthen ecosystem pipelines—while leveraging Goodwill’s unique strengths.
