Campbell University Nursing The Catherine W. Wood School of Nursing is designed to provide students with the training and education necessary to enter the workforce as a RN.

The purpose of the Catherine W. Wood School of Nursing is to prepare each student for initial licensure as a registered nurse. The program provides a Christian environment in which to develop the knowledge, skills, and values deemed essential for safe, quality nursing care in a complex and changing environment. The program contributes to the mission of the university by educating students to becom

e caring, ethical, beginning care providers with interprofessional healthcare team skills. Campbell University will educate generalist nurses to practice in collaborative care settings with a focus on the needs of rural and underserved populations.

The 57 members of the Nursing Class of 2028 make up the largest incoming class in our school’s history. Each student brings unique talents, experiences and a sense of purpose to Campbell.

We look forward to supporting them as they develop the knowledge, clinical skills and confidence to make a difference in the lives of their patients and communities.

Left behind? This week’s senior skills SIM focused on a nurse’s role in the OR when a surgeon is going back in for object removal. Drawn at random after the briefing, each student had a role to play in making sure the patient was stable, the tools were sterile, the procedure was safe and accurate, and the correct information was recorded during the in and out.

Today is a milestone day for our newest students in the nursing, physician assistant, physical therapy, and pharmacy (Pharm D) programs! Join us in celebrating with them as they receive their white coats.
