UVM CREAM

UVM CREAM Cooperative for Real Education in Agricultural Management. A student run dairy herd. UVM students manage farm operation and perform all of the barn chores.

CREAM, Cooperative for Real Education in Agricultural Management, is a student-run dairy herd. There are currently 34 milking Holstein cows plus replacement animals in the herd. It is one of the highest producing and genetically superior herds in Vermont. This spring and fall semester program offers 8 credits (4 per semester) to 13-16 students each year. Successful applicants are selected from all

majors across the University and are not required to have a dairy or livestock background. The key requirements are a commitment to working hard and the thirst for knowledge. A CREAM student will leave this program with the skills necessary to excel in his/her chosen field whether that be business management, community development and applied economics, animal science, or biology.

LAST FOOTIE DAY OF SPRING SEMESTER!!! First half of CREAM 2026 wishes the spring semester a goodbye with a great day with the cows and their pedicures. We hope finals were great for everyone and we wish SCREAM good luck with their semester starting in a week. So glad most of our Spring advisors could join us for this last hurrah for them. They taught us so much with the help of farm staff and Dr. W and we wouldn’t be where we are without them. To the seniors we will miss you and to those remaining we hope to see you around. Until Fall semester, CREAM 2026 signing off.

‼️MEET THE CREAMER‼️
Meet Ally! Ally is a junior Animal Science major and Biology minor from Grafton, MA. She had no prior experience in the dairy industry and joined CREAM to learn about what it takes to manage a dairy herd! Her favorite part of CREAM is giving the cows treatments and the incredible people she gets to work with every day! After graduation, she plans to go to vet school and hopefully work at a small animal or mixed animal practice someday. A fun fact about Ally is that she is a competitive triathlete and swimmer! Her favorite cows are Soup 4000, Solstice 4028, and Lainey 4018 and her favorite dairy products are any kind of cheese and MILK!! 🐄🥛🧀🏊‍♀️
