To the University of Vermont Community:
The Nu Gamma chapter of Phi Mu Delta National Fraternity has been actively engaged in the critical need to combat and eliminate sexual violence in our community. We have heard your stories, and since learning of what occurred at this event, we have spent many hours discussing how to best bring justice to the situation. Our social event policies have our members and their guests’ health and safety as the primary goal. Our community is our primary interest first and foremost. Until we can reach a point where guests can feel safe and comfortable our work is not finished, and we are committed to outwardly pushing to foster a community of safety, consent, and fairness. As always, we invite this survivor to reach out to us directly or via a trusted intermediary so that we can hear more of their experience and conduct a more thorough investigation. Those that perpetuate violence will find no safe quarter in our organization: our socials and email are ALWAYS open for survivors to share their stories with us ([email protected]). As fraternity members, we are accountable for the behavior of our members and of the members of other fraternities at UVM. To any and all survivors: we hear you, we support you, and we believe you. Phi Mu Delta will be a safe space for survivors.
