✨Senior Spotlight✨

Lexie Divers (She/Her) is a Psychological Science and Dance double major.

Her piece, Invitation to Linger, was guided by research on behaviors that strengthen social connections and structures that support developing friendships. The piece explores how we reconcile individuality with who we become when embraced by community. If we slow down and savor beautiful, mundane moments in life, what might we notice?

I’d like to express my deepest appreciation for the support and guidance of my cherished UVM Dance family. To be surrounded by such wonderful faculty and peers is truly a privilege, and I’m filled with such gratitude for being able to grow in this magical little community these four years. This wouldn’t have been possible without my stellar cast who breathed the life into this piece, so thank you all endlessly! Further, a huge thank you to my parents and sister for giving me the priceless gift of dance 18 years ago and loving me throughout the journey! - Lexie

✨Senior Spotlight✨
Maddie (She/her) is a Public Health Science and Dance Double Major.

Her piece, “No time like the past”, explores the world as we know it, now coming to an end. The ideas behind it came from similar topics in the popular show The Twilight Zone and themes common in the 60s. When there is only one person left, are they there or are they not? It explores the realities of being the last people alive in a world that may be different in what we come to know. Are they someone that can be trusted, or is it your other half?

I would like to thank all of my friends who convinced me to join this amazing program. A huge thank you to Paul, the dance professors, and the other capstone seniors for making every bit of my UVM dance experience so special. Thank you for all the support and care. Finally, a huge thank you to all of my friends and family who have come to support me in all of my UVM dance shows; it means the world to me! - Maddie

✨Senior Spotlight✨

Sadie Martin (she/her) is a Studio Art and Dance Double Major.

Her piece, “Because I Found a Feather”, explores and celebrates the phenomenon that we are all a combination of everything and everyone around us, yet still unique and irreplaceable. It is ultimately a practice in gratitude for ourselves, those around us, and the elements that shape us and our individual mosaics.

Thank you to all the warm and vibrant souls who make up UVM dance; it is a beyond special community to be a part of. A huge thank you to Paul Besaw and Julian Barnett for their encouragement and enthusiasm throughout these past four years. You both inspire me more than I could ever express. Endless thanks to my lovely dancers for dedicating their time and artistry to this piece! And to my family, for being my forever friends and spirited supporters. Much love to you all! - Sadie

What a wonderful treat to have Christopher Kojzar’s ARTS 1100 Art Studio: Drawing class come and observe our DNCE 1200 Movement and Improvisation class today!! Exciting to see the beautiful translation done through pencil, of the body in gesture, in space, and in momentum. Such a fruitful cross pollination, we look forward to more!
