The College of Idaho Outdoor Program

The College of Idaho Outdoor Program Open for rentals! During this time, we are only offering rentals to people living and working on campus ONLY! We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays 1pm-4pm.

For questions, email [email protected] The Winston and Diane Moore College of Idaho Outdoor Program (CIOP), including Intramural programming, provides students, faculty, staff, and alumni of all abilities and experience levels access to outdoor recreation, outdoor education, and campus recreation opportunities that emphasize skill acquisition, leadership development, team building,

environmental awareness, risk management, stewardship, and fun. Our student led trips are designed for everyone who has an interest in the outdoors, not just the weathered wilderness explorer. Previous experience is not required! On each trip there are one or more student leaders present who are trained and experienced in the activities, safety, and first aid. Some of our activities are more challenging than others and will have pre-trip meetings and instruction, but anyone who is willing to try is encouraged to participate. Each trip is planned and organized to help ensure that everyone enjoys each trip as much as possible. The educational component of the Outdoor Program is comprised of workshops and classes. Check out all the scheduled events on the trip calendar page for times and dates. We want your suggestions to further develop our calendar and offerings, so please let us know your interests. We also have equipment for rent through the OP rental shop so that everyone at the CofI may enjoy the outdoors on their own.

We're hosting a Hybrid Wilderness First Responder course starting in January with the in-person session on March 20th-24th.

In partnership with WMTC (Wilderness Medicine Training Center) you can become certified as a Wilderness First Responder. Our Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is designed for outdoor professionals, those taking multi-day or extended trips, and people involved with high-risk activities (rock climbing, whitewater paddling, mountaineering, etc.). WFR courses provide ideal training for people who travel in remote locations, in challenging weather, with limited equipment, unreliable communication, and little or no access to outside assistance.
WFR certification is the industry standard for outdoor guides and instructors, and graduates are trained to care for patients for extended periods and to make independent decisions about evacuation and resources.

WMTC WFR graduates who receive certification as an EMR or EMT within one year of their WFR course may upgrade to a WEMR or WEMT after passing our online exams.

Certifications Included in WFR Courses
- Wilderness First Responder
- Adult and Child Wilderness CPR & AED
- Injectable Epinephrine
