Negotiating online? Body language still matters.
PON researchers consistently find that in-person negotiation outperforms virtual — but that doesn't mean you're powerless on a video call.

A few things that make a real difference:
✅ Position your camera at eye level
✅ Use deliberate pauses — silence signals confidence
✅ Name your emotions before they derail the conversation
✅ Follow up in writing to confirm shared understanding

Why your first offer matters more than you think
The anchoring effect is one of the most powerful — and most misunderstood — forces in negotiation.

When you make the first offer, you set the range. Research shows that even an extreme first number pulls the final agreement in your direction, as long as it's defensible.
