Diabetes Experiences Study

Diabetes Experiences Study Rutgers University's Diabetes Experiences Study aims to advance research on social relationships and management of type 2 Diabetes in the Phila/Camden area

The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is a steadily increasing problem in the United States. To aid in the fight against this problematic disease, the Relationships, Health and Aging Lab at Rutgers-Camden is currently recruiting participants for a study of racially-diverse middle-aged and older adults (45-85) who have been diagnosed with having type 2 diabetes. Participation involves two, short self-a

dministered questionnaires and one in-person interview at a location most convenient for the patient (for example, at home or our lab on the Rutgers-Camden campus). Compensation will be provided in the amount of $20 for each participant with an additional $20 incentive for spouses who wish to take part. Overall, our hope is that the results from this study will inform interventions designed to foster successful diabetes self-management. It is our belief that by gathering information about how people manage their type 2 diabetes, we can further contribute to the scientific understanding of best practices of type 2 diabetes health care management, as well as draw attention to less healthy practices that are common. This information may help to inform interventions and lead to better communication between patients, health care providers, and family members. We are asking for your help to find individuals with diabetes who might be interested in participating. If you, or anyone that you know has type 2 diabetes, please pass along this study opportunity to them. The more participation that we have, the more successful we will be in gathering accurate perceptions about how most people manage type 2 diabetes in our communities. Thank you for your support, and your help in our recruitment efforts!
