2023 has been filled with blessings and success for Collegiate Farm Bureau at SEMO!
The organization’s hard work earned the chapter’s title as the best Collegiate chapter in the state with the President’s Award (pictured first)
Next, Discussion Meet participants harmoniously spoke on tough issues in agriculture. SEMO President, Alexis Mudd, earned second in the meet. She notes that, “the competition is unique because none of the participants can be successful without having some talented competitors!”
The preliminary round question read, “Working with elected officials, in all levels of government, is critical to advancing public policy that supports farmers and ranchers. How can Farm Bureau help elected leaders better understand the challenges of the agriculture sector and the importance of supporting the financial viability of America’s family farms and ranches?”
The final round of competition posed the question, “Production agriculture requires a lot of capital. Young farmers and ranchers face challenges gaining access to the capital they need to start or grow their operations. What tools are currently available, and what new programs could be introduced, to help young people access financial resources—and make sound financial decisions—to run their farms and ranches?”
The chapter looks forward to attending the Missouri Young Farmers and Ranchers Conference, National Young Farmers and Ranchers Conference, and more to continue the momentum into the new year. This, in alignment with ongoing local projects, will set the stage for a successful and competitive future for the organization.
The start of a new semester in 2024 is the perfect opportunity for you or someone you know to get involved and enjoy all that SEMO Collegiate Farm Bureau can offer!
Deepest appreciation is expressed for the ongoing support from members, families, Cape Girardeau County - Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers, Katie Fennewald, SEMO Department of Agriculture, and more!
