SEMO Tri Delta

SEMO Tri Delta The Phi Mu Chapter of Delta Delta Delta in Cape Girardeau Delta Delta Delta was founded at Boston University in 1888 by Sarah Ida Shaw and Eleanor Dorcas Pond.

They sought to, "found a society that shall be kind alike to all and think more of a girl's inner self and character than her personal appearance." Pond suggested a triple letter sign for the sorority, and Shaw chose a letter that worked on Greek mottoes and passwords. It is said that inspiration for these two came from a variety of sources: Egyptian lore, Hindu mysticism, Greek, and Astronomy. By

the first anniversary of the founding of Delta Delta Delta, there were three chapters located in three different states, a record for early growth. Tri Delta was the first National Panhellinic sorority, and in 1930 became the first international sorority.

Behind every event and fundraiser is a reason that we care so deeply about this cause. We love getting to celebrate the hearts behind our philanthropy!🎉 Today we are introducing our Director of Philanthropy, Abeni Hall, who is sharing why supporting St. Jude holds such a special place in her heart!❤️

“I’m so thankful to be part of something as meaningful as raising money for St. Jude. When we visited this past January, I was overwhelmed with inspiration for such an incredible cause. Because of St. Jude, children receive treatment, family housing, and so much more, without ever having to worry about the cost. This trip truly inspired me, and showed me that there’s always more I can do to help those around me. I feel so lucky to be part of a chapter that cares so deeply about making a difference!!💗💌”

The countdown is real. It’s the last day of senior week, last week of classes, and just a few more moments before our seniors go alum on Sunday🤍 Thank you for the legacy you have left and the way you made this chapter grow.
