Huge congratulations to SEMO Horn Studio alum Jordan Rhodes, who returned to Cape Girardeau this past weekend to compete in the International Horn Competition of America, advancing to the University Division semifinals! 📯🎶

And the next chapter starts now: Jordan begins her master’s degree at Michigan State University, where she will also serve as a graduate teaching assistant.

We want to give a HUGE shout out to our sophomore Will Benson as he closes out his DCI season this weekend! Will has been touring with the Memphis Blues Drum and Bugle Corps this summer💙

They just finished 4th in the Open Class finals, and are performing tonight in the World Class Semifinals at 1:47 EST, catch him on Flo Marching or in person at Lucas Oil Stadium!! We are so proud of you Will!

Our own Dr. Nicholas Kenney had the privilege of presenting this week at the 2026 International Society for Music Education (ISME) World Conference in Montréal! 🙌

Dr. Kenney joined Andy Mast, Brian Chin, Margaret Schedel, and Eytan Wurman of CommonTime Pathways for a panel discussion titled:

“What Universities Are Looking For: Scholarships, Portfolios, and Future-Ready Students.”

The panel explored what colleges and universities are looking for in today’s applicants, including scholarships, portfolios, and the skills that prepare students for success in higher education and beyond.

Special thanks to CommonTime Pathways for hosting the panel and sponsoring Dr. Kenney’s participation in this year’s conference. Their commitment to connecting students with educational opportunities continues to make a meaningful impact.
