Student Recreation Society has been working for weeks in preparation for the 50th Cardboard Regatta to be held on Saturday,April 26. The viking theme boat features the design and art of Cliver Robinson. Captains aboard will be Will Mitchell and Maelin Abbott-Rinehart. The event is located at campus lake and boats begin launching at 1 pm. Come and check it out!

Coming Soon! The 2025 John Allen Symposium will be held on Thursday, April 17th in SIU's Morris Library Guyon Auditorium. Doors open at 8 am and keynote address presented by Dr. June Price-Shingles, the 2024 REC Alumnus of the Year, begins at approximately 8:30 am. Attached is the registration link for the symposium and for lunch, which will be served at the Old Main room of the SIU Student Center.

Mark your calendar for the 2025 John Allen Symposium to be held on Thursday, April 17 on the campus of SIU. The theme for this year's symposium is Recreation and Wellness. The keynote speaker will be Dr. June Price who is a faculty member at Chicago State University. Dr. Price was selected as the 2024 Recreation Professions Alumnus of the Year and will return to deliver the address. Eddie McNeela, current SIU REC Professions student, recently attended the Illinois Park and Recreation Association annual conference in Chicago. Eddie served as a volunteer and received a scholarship for attendance. He attended sessions on resume writing and professional development, as well as interacting with SIU REC alumni. Eddie is completing his final semester at SIU with an internship with a career goal of working for a Chicagoland park district.
