Time to celebrate! The SIU Security Dawgs took first place in the Illinois Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition on February 17th! These students defended their network expertly and are preparing for the Midwest CCDC coming up soon. Congrats SIU Security Dawgs!

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Security Dawgs clinched the top spot at the Illinois State Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition on Feb. 17, placing first among eight schools vying for the top position.

SIU Security Dawgs Participate in Hivestorm Cybersecurity Competition

While most Salukis participated in homecoming events Saturday, the SIU Security Dawgs competed in the 2022 HiveStorm Cybersecurity Competition. Four teams, each consisting of three to four members, worked through various challenges, including system hardening, system log review, and forensics. "Real-world experiences, like the Hivestorm competition, prepare students for jobs in the incredibly high-growth field of cybersecurity," said Matthew Nicklin, an assistant lecturer, and Security Dawgs' faculty adviser.
