Iyanuoluwa Alabi and Cordelia Lemons are two of our very own students running for SIU Homecoming King/Queen! Please show your support!
Cordelia is a Junior from Sesser, IL and is majoring in Civil Engineering with an Environmental specialization and minors in Environmental Studies and Sustainability. Since her freshman year she has been heavily involved on campus and focused on building community, leading with purpose, and representing SIU with pride. As ASCE President and Symposium Host Lead, Co-Founder and President of the Student Women's Leadership Council, Treasurer of the Society of Women Engineers, Outreach Leader for the CoECTM Ambassadors, and member of Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe, and Women’s Rugby, she is proud to represent the drive and diversity of engineers.
Cordelia hopes to show young women, like herself, that they don’t have to fit into one box and that you can be anything you set your mind too. Cordelia believes running for Homecoming Queen isn’t just about a title; it’s about celebrating Saluki pride and breaking molds together.
Iyanu is a proud Saluki from West Ridge, Chicago, majoring in Industrial Management and Applied Engineering. Guided by his faith and passion for service, he became a campus leader dedicated to uplifting others and building community. As the founder of The Black Men Coalition and a leader within the National Society of Black Engineers, he has worked tirelessly to create spaces that inspire growth, connection, and purpose among all students. Iyanu believes in leading with integrity, celebrating diversity, and leaving a lasting impact at SIU through service and unity.
