Re-posting this for all who didn’t get a chance to see it. Please feel free to share it! Thanks much!

As you may know, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, the renovation work of Davies Hall 123/124 for the new Strong Survivors Cancer Rehabilitation Lab (CRL) was recently completed (https://strong-survivors.siu.edu)

On the SIU Day of Giving 2020 (Wednesday, March 4th), we we will be hosting a Grand Opening of the new CRL space from 5-6:30 PM. There will be snacks and refreshments available and the public is welcome.

In addition to the Grand Opening ceremonies, we will be continuing our efforts to raise $25,000 to secure the naming rights for the new facility to name it after my cousin, Julie Honerkamp, the inspiration for the program (https://strong-survivors.siu.edu/about/julie.php) It would be a wonderful way to honor the legacy of her bravery, toughness, and enduring spirit. As was the case last year, all funds raised toward the naming effort will go toward the administration of the Strong Survivors program (maintenance of the facility/equipment, support of the participants, support of the student staff members whose efforts benefit participant quality of life, etc.).

For those who wish to make a tax-deductible donation, there will be donation forms available at the event (just bring check or cash).

If you are unable to join us at the event but still wish to donate, please either:

a. contact Steph Taylor at the SIU Foundation office:

Cell: 618-319-0408

OR

b. donate on the Day of Giving at:

BEWARE: word on the street is that this goon has been dragging people down to Quatros Pizza for Strong Survivors Fund Day/Night.

WHAT CAN YOU DO? We are going to advise that sometime between now and Midnight today (Tues 12/3) you get to Quatros to dine-in, buy a gift certificate for someone, pick up a carry out order OR order a delivery. Just be sure that one of our fliers is turned in when you pay (they have them at the Quatros pay counter or you can print the pic) so that 30% of your purchase goes to support the Strong Survivors Fund (https://strong-survivors.siu.edu) and helps us to continue to provide all our services for anyone who has experienced cancer and their caregivers. That is the only way to avoid seeing that face!

SPREAD. THE. WORD.

GRAB. SOME. FOOD/DRINK.

AVOID. THIS. GOON. AND. HIS. GOON-FACE

A few days back, a time-honored tradition for the SIUC/SIH Strong Survivors Class (https://strong-survivors.siu.edu/) at John A. Logan College's Logan Fitness continued on "Train the Trainer Night" where the program participants got to turn the tables on the staff members and became their personal trainer for the night.

11/22/2019

A great, long-standing Strong Survivors tradition continued tonight: the end of semester Celebration Party. Awesome food, great fellowship, the presentation of well-earned awards, and this moment captured on video: new participants completing their initial 12-week program pass through a tunnel of continuing participants and staff members as they graduate to the graduate-level of the program, Survivors Forever. Great stuff.
