There are some great schools represented here! For 50 years, SIU HTEM has been dedicated to connecting industry and the classroom. It’s a core tenet of how we teach. Our faculty have over 100 combined years of industry experience and still work with leaders in their respective disciplines. We’re so glad to see this happening at the federal level.

Today's is Yemisi Marie Anderson! Yemisi earned her Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education in 2012 and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in 2019 from .

We love seeing our alumni succeeding in their careers!

Today's is Tashi Adams! Tashi graduated with a Hospitality Tourism Administration Degree in 2014 from SIU Hospitality, Tourism & Event Management, and also holds a Hospitality Management Master's degree from Roosevelt University.

She currently works as Rooms operations manager for Marriott Hotels, and is in the workforce development department at The Chicago Urban League. Additionally, Tashi volunteers with the Sankofa Food Pantry in Chicago and is actively involved with the SIUC Black Alumni Group.

As the iconic Varsity Theater prepares to celebrate its 85th birthday next month, a Southern Illinois University Carbondale senior hospitality marketing management class presented proposed marketing plans for the Varsity Center’s second life as an arts and entertainment venue.
