Here is the glimpse of Trebuchet launch!

The Great Southern Illinois Pumpkin Smash

Date: Saturday, November 9, 2024
Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: SIU Farms Service Center, 2704 Union Hill Road, Carbondale, IL
Highlights:

Pumpkin Trebuchet: Watch pumpkins get launched!
Free Compost: Bring a 5-gallon container to take some home.
Details:

Drop off your pumpkin or join the smashing fun.
Remove all decorations (candles, glitter, etc.) from pumpkins.
Call 618-453-2846 for info. Registration is optional.

Help Us Empower Students!

We are setting up a free sewing shop at the SIU Sustainability Office to allow students to fix any tears or buttons! To make this possible we are seeking donations of sewing machines and equipment, along with thread.

If you have any laying around we would love to give them a new home where they can make a difference! Your donation will help students from all backgrounds learn, create, and grow. Please drop off any donations in the Sustainability Office on the second floor of the student center or contact us at sustainability.siu.edu.

🌟 Give Before You Go Program Update! 🌟

During the Give Before You Go program, which ran from May 8th to May 13th, we collected an incredible:

🛏️ 4,420 lbs. of bedding and household items that were delivered to the Warming Center for their houseless to Home program.

👕 105 bags of clothes went to the Wesley Foundation (open to SIU students) and the Thrift Store.

🍽️ Plus, we gathered 20 microwaves and 23 mini fridges!

🙌 Huge thanks to the Rotary Club and Campus Ministries for their support! Together, we volunteered a total of 53 hours.

Your dedication to sustainability is making a real impact in our community. Let's continue to promote eco-consciousness and positive change! 💚
