Yesterday, CESL students and CESL staff and faculty celebrated the Islamic holiday of Eid, marking the end of Ramadan, the month when Muslims fast daily from dawn to sunset. Eid al-Fitr is the festival or feast of breaking the fast.
We were all treated to a delicious array of foods prepared by a few very generous CESL students, wonderful community and conversation, and short educational talks by Muslim CESL students about the meaning of the holiday and the customs and behaviors associated with it.
CESL brings together students from all over the world to learn not only English but also each other's culture. What better way to do that than through the sharing of delicious foods, laughter, and conversation?!
