Started in the late fall of 2009 by the inspiration of Blake Pierce of Eastern Illinois University Sigma Chi began to develop at Southern Illinois. Pierce and company developed the "Chi Sigma Chi" colony to further the process of becoming nationally recognized as a true Sigma Chi chapter. Through the tedious tasks and miles of speed bumps the Chi Sigma Chi colony recruited over 35 members and shap

ed itself into a fraternity. Upon the completion of the national fraternity's requirements the Chi Sigma Chi colony dropped the Chi from the beginning of the fraternities name and became the Lambda Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi on September 1st 2012. To this date the Lambda Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi is functioning at Souther Illinois University of Carbondale and intends to improve the greek life by influencing others with the principles of Sigma Chi.

We're thrilled to share that our chapter has been named Chapter of the Year for the 3rd consecutive year! 🥇 Receiving this award is a true honor, and we're grateful to everyone who has contributed to our chapter's success.

We're also proud to announce that our Derby Days week has been recognized as the Philanthropy Event of the Year. A huge thank you to Roman Attea for his tireless efforts as philanthropy chair and his dedication to our chapter. đź‘Ź

Lastly, we're honored to congratulate our brother Joey Volpe on being selected as Greek of the Year. His contributions to our chapter and the wider Greek life community have been outstanding, and we couldn't be prouder of him. 🏆

We are proud to recognize our brother Jack Flanagan as the first recipient of the Thomas Cowan Bell Scholarship. Through his dedication, discipline, and commitment to academic growth, Jack has demonstrated a remarkable improvement of academic success over the past semester. “I am truly honoured to have received Sig of the Month. Coming back from deployment and stepping back into the fraternity has been an amazing feeling, and I’m honestly proud of everything the guys have accomplished over the last year. Even while I was gone, it was clear the chapter kept pushing forward, holding it down, and continuing to build something stronger. Seeing the effort, dedication, and brotherhood that’s been kept alive means a lot to me, and it reminds me why this fraternity is more than just an organization…it’s a brotherhood. I’m grateful to be back, excited to be involved again.“
