Blackburn College Blackburn College , founded in 1837 by Rev. Gideon Blackburn, is a private, residential liberal arts college located in Carlinville, Illinois.

Blackburn is the only work college with a student-managed work program. One of only 10 Work Colleges in the U.S., Blackburn is the only one with a student-managed work program. Each student works a minimum of 10 hours per week for the college, receiving a tuition credit that makes college more affordable.
