Today, H. Laddie Montague Jr. Chair in Law and Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Partnerships Daryl Lim will present “The Hidden Copyright Risk in AI Training” at the LG AI Research | Yulchon LLC Joint Seminar, “The Hidden Legal Risks of AI Training Data: Strategies for Licensing, Copyright, and Dispute Response." The seminar will focus on the legal and compliance challenges companies face as generative AI systems increasingly rely on large-scale training data.

Lim’s presentation will address copyright risks arising from AI training data, including questions of licensing, infringement exposure, and dispute response. The presentation connects directly to his scholarship and teaching on intellectual property, AI governance, and the legal implications of emerging technologies. It also reflects Penn State Dickinson Law’s growing engagement with global conversations about responsible AI development, data governance, and innovation policy.

Professor Sarah J. Williams presented her current research project during the 2026 National Business Law Scholars (NBLS) Conference, held May 26 and 27 at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law. Williams shared her review of Andrew Ross Sorkin’s recent book, 1929: Inside the Greatest Crash in Wall Street History. Her current work-in-progress, “Investment Positivism Is the New Main Event; Insider Trading Remains the Sideshow,” uses Sorkin’s recount of U.S. markets at the time of the October 1929 crash as a springboard for insights on federal government interventions in modern capital markets. Penn State Dickinson Law and the School of International Affairs Dean and Donald J. Farage Professor of Law, Danielle M. Conway, was invited by Yulchon Law Firm, the Association of Korean Law Schools (AKLS), and Seoul National University Law School (SNU Law) to deliver keynote presentations and participate in high-level discussions in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

During the visit, Dean Conway delivered a keynote titled “Legal Education: An Essential Rule of Law Pillar in Times of Peace, Progress, or Precarity.” She also participated in a fireside chat at SNU Law School on “The Future and Public Mission of Legal Education.” Concluding the trip, she presented at the AKLS Forum on “Reforming Law School Education for Future Legal Professionals,” where she discussed “U.S. Law Schools: Practice Readiness and Access to Justice.”
