The Q***r Caps were established to encourage visibility of q***r activists on campus. At the time, many students felt like there was not enough recognition of the value of q***r programming and visibility on campus. The founders described the students selected as Q***r Caps as individuals who advocated for q***r rights, working to tear down traditions and establishments that perpetuate systems of oppression. Congratulations to our newest members!

As we close another academic year, we’re reflecting with gratitude on a year full of connection, learning, celebration, and community.

From Pride Month traditions like Le***an Lives, Q***r Prom, and the MOB Drag Show, to monthly LGBTQ+ affinity groups, educational programs, and campus-wide moments of visibility, this year reminded us why LGBTQ+ center work matters.

At a time when LGBTQ+ communities continue to face uncertainty and challenge across the country, spaces of affirmation, belonging, and care remain essential.

Thank you to every student, colleague, alum, and community partner who showed up, shared space, asked questions, celebrated, organized, learned, and helped make this year meaningful.

As we look ahead to the 15th anniversary of Dickinson’s LGBTQ+ Center, we remain committed to building a campus community where LGBTQ+ people are seen, supported, celebrated, and able to thrive.

Still standing. Still creating. Still building.
With care, visibility, and joy.

Congratulations to the Dickinson College Class of 2026 on your momentous graduation. May you go forth into the world boldly and authentically. As the brilliant commencement speech from Associate Professor Sarah Kersh reminded us, “this world can be beautiful…you can make this place beautiful.” 🌎🌈🎓🧜‍♀️

Last Friday Nina Grafton ‘26, Ezra Soncrant ‘26, and Alyssa Santiago ‘26 represented Dickinson College at the Governor’s Commission on LGBTQ+ Affair’s first ever statewide Lavender Graduation Ceremony. Congratulatory remarks were made by Pennsylvania Secretary of Education and each student received a certificate, rainbow tassel, and a letter signed by Governor Josh Shapiro. We are so proud of all our Lavender Graduates at Dickinson and look forward to this becoming a new annual tradition here in the commonwealth!

This year we are deeply honored to present the Lambda Service Award—a distinction that has only been given bestowed times before.

The Greek letter Lambda was selected as a symbol by the Gay Activists Alliance of New York in 1970. In December 1974, the Lambda was officially declared the international symbol for gay and le***an rights by the International Gay Rights Congress and is known to signify unity under oppression.

The Lambda Service Award is presented to individuals at Dickinson in order to honor their service and dedication to the le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, and q***r (LGBTQ+) community at Dickinson College and for bringing a spirit of unity to a community seeking support and resources.

This year, we are proud to present this award to Dee Danser.
