Dickinson College Environmental Studies Department Students choose to pursue either a B.S. in environmental science or a B.A. in environmental studies.

The Environmental Studies department recognizes that solutions to the human predicament require an interdisciplinary effort, incorporating ecological and social academic perspectives. Dickinson's environmental studies & environmental science department, one of the oldest and best established in the country, is remarkable for its range of activities. Sample opportunities include working with commun

ities on environmental-justice issues, participating in field and laboratory research on forest responses to environmental stresses and working at the Dickinson College Farm. In addition to fulfilling a set of core requirements, each student constructs a customized concentration based on a cluster of courses that fits his or her interests. The department’s resources include a geographic-information systems (GIS) laboratory, state-of-the-art instruments for chemical analysis and access to the Reineman Sanctuary, a forested wildlife preserve near campus, the Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM), the Center for Sustainable Living (Treehouse) and the Center for Sustainability Education (CSE). The environmental studies & environmental science department recognizes that solutions to the human predicament require an interdisciplinary effort. The goals of the program include providing a sound academic background and an opportunity for students to use their education through research and community engagement.

Here's another Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program to keep an eye on. The University of Delaware has an REU Marine Sciences 2023 Summer Program. This is a 10 week program from June 5th through August 11, and you will be provided with a $6,700 stipend, free housing, and travel assistance.

Between May 23 and August 13, you get to work with a mentor on a research area of your choice. Housing, a stipend, and round trip travel expenses are included.
