Here is a poem I wrote. Why Mr. Piano Tuner?
David Mulvaine III
Why, Mr. Piano Tuner, do you do it?
Why do you tune the piano?
Do you do it for the fun of it?
Do you do it for the money?
Do you do it to have a more perfect world?
Why, Mr. Piano Tuner, why do you do it?
Why, dear child, do I do it?
Why do I tune the piano you ask?
I do it not for the fun.
I do it not for the money.
I do it not for a more perfect world.
Why, dear child, I will tell you why I do it.
Why do I do it? I do it for the love of music.
Music is a mystery that must be unraveled.
Music is an art that must be displayed.
Music is a power that must be learned.
The Mystery of music is this.
It can speak the word unspoken.
It can touch the heart untouched.
It can move the soul unmoved.
The Art of music is this.
It is the voice set free.
It is the heart out poured.
It is the soul revealed.
The Power of music is this.
It is what makes the old man cry.
It is what makes the young ones love.
It is what makes the child dance.
Where would we be without music?
Without it, what would our humanity be?
Without it, how would we praise our Lord?
Without it, where would we find our beauty?
This is why. This is why we do it.
The Luther, the Brassier, the Piano tuner.
We do it not for the fun.
We do it not for the money.
We do it not for a more perfect world.
But we do it, dear child, for the love of Music.
