When our community invests in SCFM, our students feel the impact.

A special thank you to Amitrace - Broadcast Solutions for supporting the 4th Annual Media Night as our Cocktails & Connections Sponsor!

Partnerships like this help make Media Night possible, but the impact goes beyond one evening. They represent a shared belief in what SCFM students can become when they have opportunities to learn, create, connect, and prepare for the industries they hope to lead.

At 6 p.m. on October 9, we’re bringing together SCFM alumni, industry professionals, community partners, and friends to celebrate the legacy we’ve built and invest in what comes next.

There’s room for you in that story, too. Join us at Media Night. Help us continue creating opportunities for the next generation of communicators, creators, filmmakers, storytellers, and media professionals.

Come celebrate the legacy. Help us build what’s next. Purchase your ticket or explore sponsorship opportunities: https://tinyurl.com/yder8hjj

There’s no script for a developing news story, and that’s where hands-on experience matters. UWG WUTV students didn’t just witness Tuesday’s developing story. They reported it.

Kudos to the WUTV team for their coverage of Tuesday’s vehicle fire on West Georgia Drive. Through SCFM’s Digital Journalism Innovation Lab, students are putting their journalism skills into action, reporting on developing stories and keeping the UWG community informed.

Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Carrollton Fire Department and University Police responded to an area along West Georgia Drive outside the Education Center, where a truck was engulfed in flames. The vehicle’s owner, Danny Morales, said he had returned to Carrollton to pick up the truck after it had been restored when he noticed black smoke while driving.

According to officials and Morales, no injuries were reported. The University issued an all-clear at approximately 2:56 p.m., indicating the area was safe.

From capturing the scene as it unfolded to speaking directly with the vehicle owner, this is student journalism in action.

Great work, WUTV! 👏

🎉 It’s a great day to celebrate one of our own!

Please join us in wishing Dr. Soo Moon a very happy birthday! 🎂

From journalism and media ethics to digital literacy and global media, Dr. Moon brings years of knowledge, experience, and curiosity to the classroom while helping SCFM students better understand the media that shape the world around them.

We’re grateful to have her as part of and hope her birthday is filled with plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Moon! 🎈🎉

And after the awards are presented and the stories are shared, the celebration continues.

Great things happen when a community chooses to invest in what comes next.

We’re grateful to Georgia Power, our Executive Sponsor for the Fourth Annual Media Night! Thank you for helping make this celebration possible and supporting the students, alumni, faculty, and programs that make the School of Communication, Film, and Media what it is today.

But the opportunity to build that legacy doesn’t stop there.

Media Night is more than an evening of celebration. It’s an opportunity to connect with SCFM, celebrate the accomplishments of our alumni, and invest in student success.

Join us on October 9 at the Campus Center for an evening that celebrates where SCFM has been, where we are today, and where we’re going next.

While recovering from the sugar high of our first Ice Cream Social on Tuesday and riding the excitement of the first day of class yesterday, we realized we never shared some of our favorite shots. So, better late than never!

Yesterday marked the official start of a new semester at UWG, bringing new and familiar faces, new classes, new connections, and plenty of possibilities for the months ahead. If this week is any indication, it’s going to be a good one. Happy fall semester, Wolves!

Let’s make this semester one to remember!

We have plenty more SCFM events and opportunities to connect coming your way, so stay tuned!
