Today the Chicana/o Studies Dept and La Casita collaborated on a beautiful outreach day! 35 middle schoolers, 3 teachers, and the principal from Willard Intermediate (Santa Ana Unified) enjoyed a day of platicas w/ CSUDH college students, a campus tour, and a good old Toro time at the LSU! The day was magia & a wonderful example of how academic & student affairs can come together to practice HSI servingness.

In this difficult time the Chicane, Latine community faces at a local and national level, it is important to recognize what Maestra Ofelia Esparza & Maestra Rosanna Esparza Ahrens reminded us in their platica, “La Cultura Cura.” (The culture heals). Thank you to all the CSUDH comunidad for coming together and honoring tradition, history, and our ancestors at the annual Dia de Mu***os celebration! Congrats to the wonderful student planning committee, to the Chicana/o Studies Dept students and classes involved, La Casita, ASI, and the Loker Student Union. May we all continue to feel protected by the portal of love established by this offering/ofrenda of community coming together.

CHS460 is an upper division major requirement. For CHS minors it counts as an upper division elective choice. Note, due to budget cuts CHS 486 is not being offered in the near future. CHS460 is the course offered in the upper division requirements/electives that focuses on gender & feminisms. Please see your CHS academic advisor or contact them with any advising questions you may have.
