Attention California State University, Dominguez Hills Students,
In collaboration with Dr. Wider, faculty advisor, we have created a new organization on campus called Dominguez Hills Surf, and we would like to invite anyone who is interested in surfing with or without past surfing experience, bodyboarders, photographers, and everyone else who loves the ocean to join and check us out. The Domingue
z Hills Surf club/team will be a competitive and recreational program on campus. Some members may be interested in competing against other colleges through the National Scholastic Surfing Association while others may want to improve their surfing skills and learn to compete. In addition, NSSA surf competitions do recognize separate male and female surf divisions, so we highly encourage girls to come get involved as much as the guys. Dominguez Hills Surf club/team will also be a very social group; we will be collaborating with several local non-profit organization’s to teach those with disabilities how to surf, we will be partnering up with other CSUDH teams/clubs to help with beach clean-ups at our local beaches, and will also be hosting events for fundraisers in order to raise funds for charity organizations and for the club’s inventory of equipment of extra boards, wetsuits, etc. The Dominguez Hills Surf club/team takes consideration that some of its members have never surfed before and do not have equipment such as the boards, wetsuits, etc, and since the club is also a recreational program we want to keep people motivated by providing rental equipment and to have days when we provide lessons for members. Our ultimate goal is to unify the surfing culture on campus from the most experienced person to the one just starting out. We recognize the rich surfing history in the South Bay, and by starting the surf club/team, local surf sponsors and more would not hesitate to sponsor us shortly. We look forward to having a very competitive surf team for CSUDH and to keep people interested in the club/team so that others can join and feel the same passion that we feel for this great sport, and most importantly to have fun with our old and new friends. Meetings will be conducted twice a month, one on campus and another at one of the local beaches. If you are interested in joining, please reply with your:
First name, last name, phone #, email address, ID #, and DOB. This information will be kept confidential with the Office of Student Life (OSL) and is used to verify G.P.A. eligibility and enrollment at CSUDH. If you have any questions about Dominguez Hills Surf, contact us at [email protected] or at our number (952) 413-0242, and like us on our Facebook. We are excited about this new adventure, and look forward to getting stoked with you guys out there in the line up.
