Meet Rayanne, our first paramedic-to-RN graduate. After completing the paramedic program and being accepted into the ADN transition, she earned her Associate Degree in Nursing this May. Her achievement marks an important milestone for both her own career and future students pursuing the paramedic-to-RN pathway.
When asked if the paramedic program helped prepare her for nursing, Rayanne said the answer was an easy one.
“Pursuing a degree in nursing has always been my long-term goal. I decided to complete the paramedic program first because I knew it would give me a strong foundation of clinical experience, decision-making skills, and exposure to a wide variety of emergencies. The paramedic program provided me with knowledge on disease processes, emergency treatments, and hands-on skills that gave me an advantage and foundation of knowledge when transitioning into nursing school.”
As the first paramedic-to-RN graduate, Rayanne reflects on how meaningful the accomplishment is both personally and professionally.
“Being the first paramedic-to-RN graduate is incredibly meaningful to me. It represents years of hard work, growth, and determination. If someone had told me five years ago that I would become a paramedic, I wouldn’t have believed them, and now to be graduating as an RN feels surreal and extremely rewarding.”
Rayanne isn't slowing down after graduation. She is currently working toward earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing while beginning her career as a registered nurse in the operating room.
“I’m excited to explore a completely different side of healthcare outside of emergency medicine. My goal is to continue expanding my skill set, gain specialty certifications, and find the area of nursing where I can grow the most, both clinically and professionally.”
Congratulations, Rayanne, on this historic accomplishment. We are proud to celebrate your success and look forward to seeing all you accomplish in your nursing career.
