Introducing Alexandria Cremeans, a dedicated student in the Health Information Technology program whose passion for healthcare, technology, and data management has shaped her educational journey and future goals.
Alexandria chose the HIT program because it perfectly blends her interests. She explains, “I’ve always been drawn to the idea of improving patient care,” noting that the field allows her to make a meaningful impact “behind the scenes by ensuring medical records are accurate, secure, and efficiently managed.” Her love for organization, detail-oriented work, and information systems made HIT a natural fit.
One of her favorite moments in the program so far was visiting Carthage Primary School. She shared how meaningful the experience was: “It was truly amazing to see how excited the first graders were to learn and how quickly they grasped the material.” Helping teach students about anatomy and physiology reminded her why she chose a field rooted in learning and service.
Throughout her time in the program, Alexandria has experienced tremendous personal and professional growth. She says the HIT program has strengthened her confidence and time-management skills by challenging her to stay organized while juggling multiple projects. She has also built strong problem-solving and communication skills through hands-on, real-world data scenarios.
Professionally, Alexandria now has a solid understanding of medical records, coding, privacy laws, and health information systems. She appreciates how the program has shown her the vital connection between data and patient care: “It’s helped me see how technology and data play a critical role in improving patient care and hospital operations.”
Looking ahead, Alexandria plans to gain at least two years of experience in the health information field before continuing her education. She says, “After building a solid foundation of professional experience, I intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management.” Her long-term goals include advancing into roles such as health information manager, data analyst, or compliance officer.
