This homecoming weekend, we wore yellow ribbons for Derek Phillips and his family, and in solidarity with our friends in the Hawkeye Marching Band. We marched for Derek and for everyone who can’t march anymore. 💛🖤

Shoutout to SUU music majors, Hayden Stevens and Alex Eckley 👏

Both competed in the Tenor Competition at the Southeast Trombone Symposium this summer at Columbus State University in Georgia. Orchestral excerpts, recorded and submitted in March went up against tenor players from across the country.

At the symposium, they had six days of masterclasses, concerts, and live competition rounds with faculty from the Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, National, and Melbourne symphonies, plus John Fedchock and members of the American Brass Quintet.

Very proud of these T-Birds! Come hear them play in the Wind Symphony and other ensembles this fall. ⚡️🦅
