Brendan is this weeks SUCCESS Academy student of the week. He has been nominated for his positive traits in Mathematics. Brendan is a hardworking student that always tries to have a positive attitude.
Brendan’s favorite subject in school is Engineering and CAD. His biggest role model is Uncle Iroh from the show Avatar The Last AirBender. Brendan’s advice to other SUCCESS students is to, “Focus on the meaning of what you are learning rather than memorizing it all or getting an A on the test. If you understand why you are doing what you are doing then you will have truly learned and that is your one and only job as a student. If you don’t have time to go over what you don’t understand in class then go after school to tutoring or sign up for office hours and get some one-on-one time with a teacher so they can explain it in detail, that is literally their job. Also you can ask your friends for help, you are not alone and ten minds know more than one.
Along with that, pace yourself. If you put 100% of yourself into 100% of your homework and schoolwork you’ll get good grades for a bit but eventually you will burn out. Yes, pay attention in class, take notes, and take the time at home to get what you need to do, but also take some time off. Hangout with your friends or read a book or go outside. Don’t beat yourself up over that 80% you got on that test and that it wasn’t a 100%. Your school is important but so are you. If you keep moving forward and focus on doing better in the future while balancing all that work with some time for yourself I guarantee you will improve.” Thank you Brendan for showing true SUCCESS in our school.

Gavin is this week’s SUCCESS Academy Student of the week! He has been nominated for his positive traits in Language arts by Mrs. Springer. He also wrote, “Stood by when nobody else did,“ speaking of his friendships. For his reflective piece on this, he wrote, “I like to help my friends and uplift them when they are down. Mostly by making jokes but also by talking things out. I want my readers to know that I am a good friend and that they can count on me.“ Gavin has a wonderful way with words.
