Cedarville University Geology

Cedarville University Geology One of a kind, just like every gem. Opportunities for undergraduate research and publication are encouraged.

Cedarville's Bachelor of Science degree in geology provides a core of classes that prepares students for graduate studies or employment in a wide variety of geological fields. The program is unique in that no other Christian university that holds to a literal six-day account of Genesis offers geology as a major for undergraduates. Skills needed by modern geologists such as observation, interpretat

ion, model analysis, critical thinking, and field work are emphasized throughout the program. The coursework is rigorous and very similar to coursework at other secular, Christian, and private schools. It prepares students for a successful career in graduate school or professional employment in the geosciences. -Taken from our website

Our geology major has turned 15!

On January 23rd, 2009, geology was officially approved to be added as a major at CU. Many have graduated from the program since then, and today, we had the opportunity to celebrate with current students, faculty, and alumni from all over the world!

Happy fifteenth birthday to Cedarville University Geology! 🎉🧁

Campfires at the Whitmore farm are always the best way to kick off the year!
•
We are so excited about this school year even with all of the uncertainty and we are so excited to see the hand of Christ throughout these times.

While we are all missing the Cedarville views this summer, here are some of the dope things our majors have been up to!! Kenan is spending his summer out in Wyoming and he found this sick dinosaur fossil! Hunter and Jordan visited some sick views out in Arches National Park, Utah, and Colorado!

Our next senior we would like to take a moment to recognize is Hunter Kraynak! In the future, Hunter wants to work in the oil and gas industry. Hunter lives in Hobart Indiana, and the coolest place he has ever been is Hawaii! One fun fact (or not so fun fact) about Hunter is that he has had West Nile Virus!

Because this year at Cedarville didn’t end as intended, we wanted to honor some of our seniors by featuring them in posts coming this week! For our first senior, I would like to introduce you to Maria LeFaive. Maria is one of our geology majors and in the future, she sees herself pursuing research and geotechnical work in karst areas. Maria is from Wilmington Ohio, and the coolest place she’s ever visited is Death Valley, California. A fun fact about Maria: she has composed TWO songs for book reports in two of her geology classes!!

2019. The year the geology major’s boat actually made it across the lake. It looks a little rough and we were skeptical, but we did it. Best Pyrites of the Caribbean the world has ever seen.
