rograms located at SRTC include Petroleum Technology, HVAC, Welding, Residential & Commerical Electricity, and Natural Gas Compression. SRTC also offers university transfer courses such as Biology, History, Government, English, Math, and psychology. Shelby College Center is the Panola College location at 3600 Loop 500 in Center, TX. This location offers Vocational Nursing, Cosmetology, Certified Nurses Aide, English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED classes and testing.

Jessica Walter has made Panola College history as the first Promise Program scholar to graduate from the College and receive a Panola Promise cord.

Jessica graduated from high school a year early and completed her Panola Promise requirements by doubling up on volunteer hours during her final year. While still in high school, she also took advantage of dual credit opportunities, completing enough college coursework to build a strong foundation for success at Panola College.

Jessica enrolled full-time at Panola College in Fall 2025 as a Panola Promise scholar and graduated in May 2026 with an Associate of Science in General Studies. During her time at the College, she earned Magna Cum Laude honors and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.

This fall, Jessica will continue her educational journey at Louisiana State University in the Pre-Veterinary Program, with plans to attend veterinary school and pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Congratulations, Jessica! We are proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to seeing all that your future holds.

Congratulations to these Carthage ISD Promise Program scholars!

These students are making history as part of the first Promise Program cohort, which includes graduates from high schools across Panola County. Twenty-seven Carthage ISD students received certificates and will receive free tuition and fees for up to three years in their chosen pathway or program of study at Panola College.

The Promise Program, which was launched in 2023 and is sponsored by the Charles C. Matthews Foundation, was designed to reward students who work hard, give back to their communities, and stay committed to their education.

The Program has since expanded into Shelby County through the Dan L Duncan Shelby County Promise, continuing to create opportunities for students across our region.
