The Standing Ovation Society's featured student for the month of May is Madison Hans. Madison lives in Mulberry Grove and graduated in 2025 from Mulberry Grove High School. She is currently finishing up her first year at KC.

Madison plans to graduate with her Associate’s degree from KC then work toward a Bachelor's degree in Business and a Master's degree in Social Work. She would love to use her degrees to help children in need and open a wildlife sanctuary in her future.

In addition to the Standing Ovation Society, Madison was also offered a Communication program scholarship her first year at KC.
Madison has a busy life with 4 jobs and 19 pets. She spends her free time finding new ways to make the best life for her animals. She also enjoys going plant shopping with a coffee in hand.

"I felt that Kaskaskia College was the right fit for me because of the student faculty ratio and location. I came from a school on the smaller side, with my graduating class being around 20. A university seemed a little overwhelming to me at the time, whereas KC felt well connected and comfortable. Since I am used to being hands-on rather than online, with education centers being only 10-15 minutes away and main campus about 40 minutes away, I do not have to worry about taking many online classes."

You have been a wonderful addition to the Communication Program and the SOS Club, Madison!

The Standing Ovation Society's featured student for the month of March is Zerek Koch. Zerek lives in Woodlawn and graduated from Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School. He is currently finishing up his first year at KC.

Zerek began his studies at KC with an interest in sports broadcasting, but now plans to graduate with his Associate’s degree then work toward a paraprofessional license to be a Special Education teacher.

In addition to the Standing Ovation Society, Zerek runs for the Cross Country team on scholarship. He was also offered a Communication program scholarship his first year at KC.

Zerek has two dogs named Roxy & Leo, enjoys gaming and spending time with his girlfriend Autumn. He broke his hip during his freshman year of high school during a game and it was his first, and last, game he played!

“I chose Kaskaskia College, because coming out of high school and it being right across the street from the KC campus, I felt there weren’t other options for me. I was offered two scholarships - cross country and communication - which was an offer I knew I couldn’t refuse. I knew plenty of people attending KC at the time, so I knew I would fit right in and feel welcomed as soon as my first day”.

We are glad you chose Kaskaskia College and are here with us, Zerek!
