Meet Maddie Gaede, Panhellenic Vice President of Recruitment! 🩵

Maddie is a rising senior in Kappa Kappa Gamma studying Speech and Hearing Science with an SLP concentration and minors in Spanish and Disability Studies. In Kappa Kappa Gamma, Maddie previously served as the Panhellenic Delegate. Outside of Greek life, she is a James Scholar and a member of NSSHLA and works at St. Matthew Catholic School as an afterschool care counselor and substitute teacher.

Maddie has been working hard to plan recruitment and is excited to see our potential new members in the fall! Panhellenic Primary Recruitment registration is open now! Be sure to follow for more info!

"As someone who originally did not plan to be in a sorority and signed up late for Primary Recruitment, I am forever thankful I did, and I encourage you to do the same! Panhellenic has only enhanced my college experience by giving me lifelong friendships, academic support, leadership opportunities, and a support system that I never could have imagined. As you go through Primary Recruitment, keep an open mind, soak everything in, and most importantly, have fun! You will get to meet so many incredible women in our community, and I cannot wait to watch you experience everything that Panhellenic has to offer." 🧡

Philanthropy is a key pillar of the Greek community. Today we're highlighting Alpha Omicron Pi and their dedication to their philanthropy, the Arthritis Foundation. Alpha Omicron Pi recently hosted Spike-Out Arthritis, a philanthropy dinner and volleyball tournament to raise money to combat arthritis.

Director of Philanthropy Eloise Straussman said, "When going through recruitment, what really stood out to me about Alpha Omicron Pi is that we have two big philanthropy events a year. Now, as the Director of Philanthropy, I understand that our Spring event, Spike-Out Arthritis, is our house's way of showing our support for the Arthritis Foundation, and in putting ourselves out in our community and highlighting the effort that everyone puts into the event really emphasizes that. Running Spike-Out Arthritis has truly been the most educational experience I've had this semester, and I can't wait to see how next year goes!"

Keep up your dedication to philanthropy! 💙

In recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month this May, we are spotlighting some of U of I's 12 Asian and South Asian affiliated fraternities and sororities.

First up, we are highlighting Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc! Chapter President Samhita Periyanayaham said, "Delta Kappa Delta has been an incredible influence on my cultural identity and college experience. Connecting with a group of strong and empowered South Asian women broadened my worldview and helped me develop personally and professionally. It made me realize how much diversity there is within our culture and how everyone has a different experience navigating their cultural identities. In such a diverse campus, Delta Kappa Delta is a constant reminder of my culture and roots. When I am around these women, it feels like home. It encourages me to be connected to my culture and remain true to myself no matter where I go."

We’re so proud to have organizations like Delta Kappa Delta fostering such a strong sense of belonging within the campus community.

Recently, Ross Bodine traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Fraternal Government Relations Coalition Capitol Hill Visits representing FarmHouse Fraternity and the University of Illinois IFC.

He met with many members of the Illinois congressional delegation advocating for the Freedom of Association in Higher Education Act. This bill would protect the right that students have across the country to be members of fraternities and sororities.

Amazing work, Ross!
