The group started as a class project in which a group of students was asked to devise a restoration management plan for what is now the Red Bison Prairie Corridor. Red Bison cooperates with local prairie restoration groups on a variety of sites in east central Illinois. However, most of their time is spent working at their own site along Rt. 45, south of Winsor Rd. in Savoy. Students eliminate inv

asive species, collect seeds, plant flowers, and of course, conduct controlled burns. The group is also active in education, to help people understand what precious resources, and special places, prairie remnants are.
