Jake Schaefer Squadron is an Honorary Service Organization based out of Air Force ROTC Detachment 19

The Arnold Air Society is a professional, honorary service organization advocating the support of aerospace power. The "service" aspect is perhaps the foremost in the mind of many members, because of the society's continuing contributions to our campuses, our communities, and our corps.

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing well! Your favorite AAS squadron is doing a fundraiser to help out those who have been affected by Hurricane Michael. Our goal as a squadron is to raise at minimum $300.

So, in order to meet AND exceed this goal, we will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts on the quad THIS Friday, November 9th from 10 am to 4 pm! Half of all proceeds will be going to Operation Coastal Cleanup, which will be used to help cleanup Tyndall Air Force Base. Come out and support your local Arnies! Thank you!

These cadets must be EXHAUSTED after a long weekend of volunteering!

On Friday (March 31), cadets--along with the help of our civilian sister organization Silver Wings--worked around a table for two hours picking up packing materials such as papers/advertisements/coupons/etc to put in bags for the upcoming Illini Marathon, some even boxed it all up. This was good time as cadets were able to socialize with each other as they worked.

Yesterday (April 2), cadets spent their 'usually relaxing' Sunday walking down State Street picking up trash and other miscellaneous items along the road as part of Adopt-a-Highway. The cadets split up, one group starting at each end of the road, and worked their way down until meeting each other somewhere in the middle. This gave each one of the cadets an opportunity to realize how much litter can be and actually is found around public areas such as roadways.

Last Friday our Squadron had the honor of hosting a Vigil in Honor of National POW/MIA Day. We were fortunate enough to have the support of every ROTC branch at UIUC. Thank you for all your hard work in remembrance of those who have gone before us!
