As we wrapped up the fall semester, we recognized 2 midshipmen as our Battalion Member of the Month (BMOM) for their outstanding leadership and hard work.

MIDN Bell excelled above and beyond as the Purdue Drill Meet Midshipman-in-Charge (MIC) during the month of October. He coordinated with competing schools and unit staff to ensure a well-organized and professional drill meet. He maintained consistent communication, drove planning efforts, and followed up with each drill event MIC to guarantee that training standards and practice expectations were met. Through his dedication, attention to detail, and proactive oversight, MIDN Bell played a central role in the battalion's historic victory at the inaugural Purdue Drill Meet. His outstanding performance reflects great credit upon himself and the University of Illinois NROTC Battalion.

MIDN Larson excelled as the Bravo Platoon Commander during the month of November. He set the standard for professionalism through his firm commitment to discipline, accountability, and effective communication within his platoon. He ensured accurate and timely personnel counts, maintained the highest expectations for military bearing, and consistently delivered well-planned PT and FEP sessions that strengthened unit readiness. His proactive leadership and unwavering attention to detail fostered a cohesive and motivated platoon, directly enhancing the battalion's overall effectiveness. MIDN Larson's dedication reflects great credit upon himself and the University of Illinois NROTC Battalion.

Well done MIDN Bell and MIDN Larson!

250 years of honor, courage, and commitment. Happy birthday, US Navy!! ⚓

Our midshipmen, alongside distinguished guests of honor, friends, and family, came together to celebrate our Navy and Marine Corps birthday. The night was filled with strong tradition, shared memories, and, of course, the ceremonial cutting of the delicious cake.

We honor those who have served, those who continue to serve today, and the future generations who will answer the call.

Celebrating 250 years of sailors and Marines who make history.

🏆Victory at Purdue Invitational Drill Meet🏆

The WGNB brought grit, determination, and teamwork to the Fall 2025 Purdue Invitational Drill Meet, competing against other ROTC units, including Purdue, the University of Michigan, Chicago Consortium, and a JROTC unit, in a wide range of events.

From endurance races and powerlifting to squad drill, color guard, an O-course relay, pull-ups, and tug-of-war -- our battalion gave it everything. Every midshipman who competed was fueled by the strength of each other and the pride of representing the World's Greatest Naval Battalion.

This victory is more than a title - it is proof of what happens when preparation meets determination.

A huge thank you to for hosting this invitational and for having us out.

We will never forget.

This morning, the NROTC battalion, along with the other ROTC units, firemen, and many other people from the general public, came together to honor those who lost their lives on 11 September 2001. We all climbed 110 flights to represent and honor the firefighters who lost their lives to climb the towers to reach those in need.

A huge thank you to the (IFSI) and the Northern Piatt Fire Department for being present this morning and for allowing our unit to borrow the firefighting gear used in the stair climb.
