The academic semester may have concluded, but UNC School of Education faculty are continuing to bring research, expertise, and leadership into key conversations.

Last week, faculty members Eric Houck, Ph.D., and Constance Lindsay, Ph.D., served on panels at a convening of The Hunt Institute’s Mayors Leadership Fellowship, a program that strengthens mayoral leadership in education by bringing together mayors and education professionals from across the country for dialogue, peer learning, and policy exploration.

During the convening, Houck and Lindsay shared insights that amplify topics and conversations shaping education policy and practice.

Houck’s research examines how teachers and students are distributed across schools and districts — and how salary structures and student assignment policies drive those patterns. Lindsay’s research centers on teacher quality and diversity, racial achievement gaps, and adolescent development.
