The Healthy Native North Carolinians Network met to facilitate sustainable community changes by supporting health and wellness within North Carolina’s tribes and urban Indian organizations through leveraging common goals and resources.
We were hosted by the Waccamaw Siouan tribe, introduced to and given a tour of the community, their healing green-space, participated in corn necklace making, and our peer participants presented their HNNC funded projects. We love seeing these initiatives grow and change, informed by their successes and intra-tribal collaboration.

During this American Indian Health Listening Session, we will gather tribal citizens’ health perspectives, discuss tribal health priorities for community members, and determine gaps in our state-level tribal health infrastructure. We want to use this information to plan future Tribal health initiatives that serve American Indians across North Carolina.
