NC Health Careers Access Program at UNC NC-HCAP strives to provide resources to pre-college and college students from all racial, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds to pursue healthcare careers.

NC-HCAP envisions a society with equitable access to culturally competent health care across all racial and ethnic groups irrespective of geographic location (urban or rural) or socioeconomic status - in short, a society where no health disparities exist.

S.E.P. Scholars attended the Pact event presented by CHEOP where they met Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt. The Pact event consisted of the three doctors discussing strategies for achieving academic success while navigating the peaks and valleys of the medical and dental field.

Gain the Competitive Edge with S.E.P.!

The UNC Chapel Hill Science Enrichment Preparation (S.E.P.) Program is actively recruiting for Summer 2024!! S.E.P. is designed to increase the representation of underrepresented and/or underserved undergraduate students into Medicine and Dentistry. Rising Sophomore and Junior Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental Students are encouraged to apply. The eight-week residential program dates are tentatively May 22 – July 19, 2024. Science curriculum includes Physics, Organic Chemistry, Human Physiology and Quantitative Skills-Biostatistics (participants are required to take all four courses).

S.E.P. Scholars will receive free educational supplies, lodging on the UNC Chapel Hill campus, and a competitive stipend. In addition to science curriculum, Scholars will receive FREE MCAT or DAT test preparation (depending on their pathway of choice) and will be exposed to the professions via participation in simulation labs, suturing workshops, dental impression workshops, the touring of health professional schools, and the like. S.E.P. Scholars will also meet and network with current health professional students, health care professionals, administrators and receive sustained support from the NC-HCAP Office throughout the program and beyond.

The Science Enrichment Preparation (S.E.P.) Program is actively recruiting for Summer 2024!! If you know of an undergraduate student who is passionate to pursue a career in Medicine or Dentistry, please encourage them to apply (rising sophomores/rising juniors). Held each summer on the UNC Chapel Hill campus, S.E.P. is designed to increase representation of underrepresented minority, first generation, lower socioeconomic and/or rural students in the professions. Scholars will receive free educational supplies, lodging on the UNC Chapel Hill campus, and a competitive stipend.

Over the course of the eight-week program, Scholars will take coursework in Physics, Organic Chemistry, Human Physiology and Quantitative Skills-Biostatistics. In addition to science coursework, they will receive FREE MCAT and DAT preparation and will be exposed to the professions via simulation labs, suturing workshops, dental impression workshops, etc. S.E.P. Scholars will also meet and network with like minded students and receive sustained support from the NC-HCAP Office throughout the program and beyond.
