Welcome to the New Student & Family Programs's official page! Our goal is to help new students make a smooth transition to EIU and connect them with opportunities to become more involved on campus and meet new people! Our Programs

!. Orientat

ion, Advisement, and Registration

Once admitted to Eastern, both freshmen and transfer students will be required to attend an Orientation. The program allows students to meet with their advisor to develop and get registered for a course schedule, learn about academic life at EIU, and discover opportunities and services that Eastern provides students. Family is welcome and encouraged at all EIU Orientations.

2.Transition to Campus (Prowl)
All new students (freshmen and transfers) are required to participate in our transition program (Prowl). The program provides ongoing orientation and transition programming for new students. The objective is to provide educational and social opportunities for students to understand community standards/expectations and to make connections to EIU, providing them with a solid foundation. Prowl begins the Friday prior to the first class day and concludes the Sunday before classes. Throughout the weekend, students will participate in a plethora of events and activities that fall into one of five categories: Civics & Citizenship, Academics, Personal Wellness, EIU Traditions & Culture(s), and Social Connections. These categories will be represented in programming prior to the first day of class, providing a thematic foundation for the weeks to come. Have any questions about anything pertaining to the Orientation office? Give us a call at (217)581-6435 or email us at [email protected] ! We can't wait to be all in for you as you move into the next exciting chapter of your life!
