Coastal Carolina Black Alumni Chapter

Coastal Carolina Black Alumni Chapter Coastal Carolina University Black Alumni Chapter, an official affinity group supported by Coastal Carolina University Alumni Association.

Hello, fellow Coastal Carolina Black Alumni. We are proud to announce the forming of a new chapter of the current alumni association geared to help unite and strengthen the ties of Coastal Carolina black alumni to the current student body and university. This chapter is the first of its kind in the nature that it is not tied to a geographical location. We take pride in formulating this chapter and

hope that it will encourage you to reconnect with Coastal Carolina University as a distinguished alum. A few dedicated alumni have been meeting with university officials to help establish this chapter. We have curated the following mission statement for the chapter
“The Coastal Carolina University Black Alumni Chapter supports Coastal Carolina University by providing an avenue of continued relationship building with Black alumni, scholarship fundraising, and fostering undergraduate mentorship. We are a diverse body of alumni who take pride in our heritage and support the continued diversification of our alma mater.”
The mission is supported with the following goals for the chapter:
Connect Black alumni with the CCU alumni association through increased participation at association events and representation in university affairs
Contribute to the annual cultivation and endowment of the Pat Singleton-Young Student Leadership Scholarship
Encourage consistent and increased engagement between the Black undergraduate student body and Black alumni
Educate and inform members and the CCU community on Black history, affairs and the importance of unified support

COMMENCEMENT SPOTLIGHT: Join us in celebrating Daviana Williams, the 2025-26 Health Sciences Undergraduate Student of the Year!

Daviana, a first-generation student from Hemingway, S.C., and member of the HTC Honors College, earned a B.S. in Health Sciences with a minor in Pre-Health Professions in May. She's proud of her academic and leadership presence in Teal Nation through meaningful involvement as president of the Pre-Health Professions Association and Presidential Ambassador.

"I discovered my interest in healthcare technology, built strong relationships with faculty and peers, and gained experiences that shaped my confidence and career goals. I am grateful for the opportunities I had here and excited to take everything I learned into the next chapter of my education and career," she said.

Daviana participated in honors research with Dr. Susan Montenery and Dr. Stephen Borders that explored how social determinants of health influence academic performance among college students.

Congratulations, Daviana!
