Life Update from French major Rebecca Duke ('18) . She is using her French working for an international company (after spending a year in France). Read her story!

Life Update from Rebecca Duke (French Major '18): I spent a year as an English teaching assistant with the TAPIF program in France near Marseille. Immersing myself in French culture and practicing my French outside a classroom was wonderful and helped me perfect my French to be more casual and conversational. I got to take frequent trips around southern France and to surrounding countries. I loved pulling out my French skills while traveling to other francophone countries like Belgium and Morocco. My year in France was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone looking to explore the world some more. Now that I am back in the US, I am working as a bilingual customer service representative for an international company. Everyday I get to talk with people from all over the world. I’ve been getting a lot of practice on understanding the Canadian “Quebecois” French which has been a fun new challenge. I’m looking forward to continue expanding my knowledge of French and francophone culture as I get more established in the workforce.
