On Friday, May 9th, the Panther Battalion proudly commissioned eight outstanding leaders as officers in the United States Army.

Surrounded by friends, family, and university leadership, these new lieutenants took the oath of office and stepped into the next chapter of their military careers.

We were honored to welcome back Panther Battalion alumna and our guest speaker, Captain Jasmine Baird, who inspired us with her words of leadership and advice.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support, and a special shoutout to Greg Cooper for capturing the incredible moments of this milestone event.

In just three weeks, the Panther Battalion will proudly commission eight outstanding cadets as officers into the United States Army.

These future leaders have worked diligently and trained hard to reach this point. We can't wait to watch them take the oath and begin their journey as Army officers.

President Jay Gatrell, Vice President Josh Norman, and Dr. Robert Strausbaugh showed what true leadership looks like this morning- joining our senior cadets to take (and pass) the Army Combat Fitness Test in freezing temperatures.

From deadlifts to sprints, they went toe-to-toe with our best, proving their commitment and support to our future leaders.

We also had the amazing Greg Cooper/EIU Journalism on hand to take these fantastic photos.

Learning from the past to lead in the future.🇺🇸

Last Friday, the senior MSIV class took a staff ride to the historic Battle of Tippecanoe site in Indiana. Walking the same ground where history was made, we studied the tactics, leadership, and lessons from this pivotal battle.

Her professional development session covered leadership, service in the Illinois Army National Guard, and the path to success in college, ROTC, and the Army.

Thank you, CPT Thomas, for your mentorship and for inspiring the future officers of our great nation!
