So many students find success at through an educational experience rooted in connection and hands-on learning.

Teutopolis graduate, Sydney Hanfland, spent her undergraduate time at EIU studying communication sciences and disorders, and says the early clinical experience helped set EIU apart when it came to her college choice. We’ve been serving students 131 years! Legislation was signed on May 22, 1895 creating EIU, and we’ve been creating a home and legacy for panthers ever since 💙

Eastern Illinois University will be testing our emergency alert system today (Monday, May 11) at 5:00 p.m.

If you are on or near campus, you may hear a lockdown message over outdoor speakers. This is only a test.

Tomorrow, more than 1,000 students representing 22 countries will earn their degrees🎓🐾

2026 Commencement will take place as follows:
🌟10AM- undergraduate degrees in the College of Education and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
🌟1PM- The Graduate School
🌟4PM undergraduate degrees in the Lumpkin College of Business and Technology, the College of Health and Human Services, and Interdisciplinary Studies

Commencement speakers include accomplished leaders and alumni Keith Kohanzo and Colonel Leon L. Rogers II.

Ceremonies will be livestreamed at eiu.edu/commence/online.
